Mary Lou Ciolfi, Esq.

Born and raised in New England, Mary Lou went to University of Chicago for her undergraduate degree and immediately returned home for law school. She graduated from Franklin Pierce Law Center in 1985 and began her practice of law that fall in Brunswick, Maine where she had a fulltime general law practice for nearly 15 years. In late 1999, Mary Lou came to HillHouse to manage the year-long expansion project. During this time she established and fostered solid relationships with the professional community serving HillHouse: city and state regulators, bankers and other financial consultants, and service providers. In 2000, she began work fulltime at HillHouse as the Business Manager, continuing to practice law on the side. In 2005, she took over the Administrator’s position at HillHouse. Mary Lou is committed to managing HillHouse in a way that fosters a sense of mutual respect and well-being among the residents and staff. She emphasizes honesty and integrity in every aspect of the health-care process.

Kathleen Homan, RN
Director of Nursing

Kathleen has worked in health care for over 30 years starting at age 16 as a volunteer in a nursing facility in Waterville. After obtaining her degree in nursing Kathleen gained extensive experience in medical-surgical, cardiac, and geriatric nursing in Boston, Des Moines, and Portland.  In 1999 her career focus shifted from that of a clinical nurse to a more supportive role within First Atlantic HealthCare serving as MDS Coordinator, RN Consultant, and Assistant Resident Director. In 2002 Kathleen came to Bath where she served as Staff Development Coordinator and Interim Director of Nursing Services at Winship Green Nursing Center. After the birth of her children, Kathleen stepped down from her fulltime role as a management nurse to work part-time at Winship Green and focused on raising her young family. In 2008 Kathleen joined HillHouse, working part-time as an evening charge nurse and assisting with nursing staff performance issues. In February 2009 Kathleen assumed the Director of Nursing position. She lives in Bath with her husband, Brian, and two sons, Nicholas and Matthew.

Jane Taylor, CAC
Admissions & Social Director

Jane has worked in health care for over 18 years. She obtained her Certified Nurse’s Aide (CNA) certificate while still in high school and began work as a CNA shortly thereafter. While her children were young she worked the evening shifts so that she could be home with them during the day. After working for several years as a nurse’s aide, Jane applied for a job in the activities department at Dionne Commons in Brunswick, Maine. She worked in that department for two years and then took the required courses to become a Certified Activities Coordinator. She was later promoted to Activities Director. During this time Jane took several dementia training classes and later taught dementia-related classes. Jane then became the Administrator at Dionne Commons from April 1999 until May 2000. In June of 2000 Jane was hired by HillHouse as its Activities Director and in 2005 was promoted to Admissions and Social Director. Jane has a gentle, calming approach to resident care and she cares deeply about making each day meaningful for HillHouse residents.

Sandra Freeman
Housekeeping Supervisor

Sandra was born in Bath, Maine, raised in Kingfield, and at age 14 returned to Bath where she has resided and worked ever since. She began work for Marjorie Voorhees at HillHouse in March of 1985 as a housekeeper, when HillHouse was still a relatively small facility. In 2000, Sandra was promoted to Housekeeping Supervisor. Sandra is dedicated to the residents and works tirelessly to insure that their surroundings are tidy and clean. She has extremely high standards for herself and her staff; there is little she would not do for a resident. Thanks to Sandra, HillHouse has always received high marks from the state regulators regarding its cleanliness and odor-free environment.

Suanne Nielsen
Business Office

Suanne worked as a legal secretary in Brunswick, Maine for almost 20 years before coming to HillHouse with Mary Lou in 2000. Born in Toronto, she retains her Canadian citizenship and worked as a legal secretary in Canada and Philadelphia before marrying and moving to Maine. Suanne has extensive experience in all areas of legal practice—civil litigation, domestic relations, probate law, and real estate—and as a result, is particularly well suited to dealing with the public and the concerns resident families or guardians may have. At HillHouse, Suanne is responsible for all bookkeeping and data entry, billing, payroll, insurances, and other clerical duties that relate to our facility operations.

Kellie Stinson
Dietary Supervisor

Kellie has lived in Bath for more than 20 years with her husband Michael, a Bath native, raising two children together.  Prior to coming to HillHouse in early 2008 as the Dietary Supervisor, she worked at the Portland Center for Assisted Living for nearly 8 years as the Food Service Director.  Kellie is a state certified Dietary Manager and holds two certificates in food safety and sanitation management along with certification to work with Residents having Dementia.

Jack Dostie
Facilities Manager

Jack operated his own contracting firm, Southlite Builders, out of Auburn for nearly 20 years focusing on residential and commercial building.  Thereafter, Jack was supervisor of the carpentry shop for Bates College and later project manager over a period of 11 years.   Before joining the HillHouse senior staff in March, 2010 he operated his own construction management business out of Harpswell offering construction advice for local residential and commercial projects.  He has served as an expert witness in construction litigation and he is frequently consulted by his peers in the industry for advice on construction-related matters.  Jack lives in Harpswell with his wife, Diane
